One principle to keep in mind is that you should never do two different the same time. For example, you would not want to lift and twist at the same time.
Exiting the bed properly can surely make a difference in the way that your back feels when you wake up. Many people tend to twist their back and use it to lift themselves into a standing position. Exiting the bed properly, by rolling on your side and using the arms to push up from that position will help to save your back.
